The whole idea sounds so romantic, right? Maybe you've been dreaming about your high school or college crush, daydreaming and wondering the question "what if?" Does the idea of friends reunited dating really seem so farfetched? In many cases, the romantic feelings were often one-sided. The boy you secretly loved in high school may have never known you existed. Maybe the girl who dated your best friend always had a special place in your heart, and you silently loved her from a distance. If any of these scenarios fit the bill, you certainly aren't alone. Can the magic happen to you both years later? Of course!
Making It Happen
In the movies, reunions often bring love that lasts happily ever after. Can real life do the same? Have you run into that old friend and felt something brewing between the two of you underneath the surface? Maybe your high school or college reunion is coming up, and you are already imagining getting reacquainted with a certain someone. If a relationship with an old friend is in the future, will it happen without a little push? Maybe, or maybe not. How can you make it happen?

When you do attend that reunion, remember that now is not the time to be shy! Make the rounds and talk to as many schoolmates as you possibly can. - Mutual Friends - If you are lucky, you've kept in contact with some of your old friends from school. These friends may even be able to fill you in on that someone who has already interested you. - Alumni Associations - Does your high school or college have an alumni association? If so, don't be afraid to get involved. You'll make contact with numerous old friends and others with whom you may have more in common than you thought.
Seek and Find
Do you have one particular friend that you simply can't get off of your mind? Maybe this infatuation or interest has gone on for several years, even a decade or more. What can you do about it? While of course you certainly don't want to be labeled a stalker, there really isn't anything wrong with looking up old friends. Once you've made contact, however, you can get a better feel about just how welcome your reintroduction into his or her life might be. If you sense discomfort or other negative feelings, remember that your friend may have a wife, husband, family, or significant other who won't take too kindly to someone from the past invading his or her present. However, you may find that your initial contact will eventually lead your relationship to something much deeper! Where do you begin looking for old friends and acquaintances?
- Mutual Friends - If you have mutual friends in common, give them a call to see what is going on. Maybe a small get-together or party could be arranged.
- Alumni Organizations-Still searching for that friend you just can't get out of your mind? Contact your alumni organization for information.
- Family - If you know the person's family, you can always contact a family member and inquire after that person.
- Internet - If you haven't already done a Google search, what are you waiting for? There are also numerous sites dedicated to helping old friends reconnect, such as Classmates.com, and Reunion.com.
Whatever you decide, be polite and respectful, while open to the idea of finding a reunited friendship or possibly even a new relationship.
